Seven Nonprofits Join the Energy Alliance

Seven organizations will purchase greener and cheaper energy as the newest participants in the Nonprofit Energy Alliance. This group will save an estimated $40,000 in energy costs over an average one year period and equate to removing 215 passenger vehicles off the road for an entire year.

“Vesta is a nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization providing services to 2000 patients with mental illness. Through the Energy Alliance we will save $20,000 per year on our energy costs, increase awareness among our employees and patients, reduce impact on environment and feel good at the same time. The Nonprofit Energy Alliance has been a great partner and the entire process of negotiation and transition was smooth.”

– Jignesh Dalal,
CEO, Vesta, Inc.

To date, this collective group is saving over $366,000 in energy costs.

Why is This Important?

When community needs are at an all time high and funds to support essential services are so scarce, this is an opportunity to save money on a fixed expense while doing good for the environment.

“The Center for Economic and Policy Research will see a 9.6% reduction in the rate we pay on electrical energy costs this winter, and in these economic times, every bit counts. Even better, the energy will be 100% wind power. This savings will allow us to concentrate more resources on our work and to help us make a stronger impact. Without joining one of the Nonprofit Energy Alliance's clean-energy buying groups, this lower electricity rate would not be possible.”
-Matthew Bernstein,
Director of Finance and Operations, Center for Economic and Policy Research

"Once we looked at the projected savings of $30,000 a year, there was nothing to lose."
-Sharan London, former Executive Director, Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless

"Everything we can do to control costs means that more people will be fed." Manna Food Center in Gaithersburg, has recorded an average 10 percent savings on its energy expenses since signing on.
-Kim Damion,
Executive Director, Manna Food Center
